A perfect gift for Civil War buffs: A vintage
Harper's Weekly illustration, framed with an actual bullet from the war.
Harper's Weekly spared no expense in sending artists as well as reporters
into the field of battle to document the war. The artists' remarkable
drawings were published as woodcut engravings and later meticulously
hand-colored. Each framed illustration in this Civil War collectible is of a
battle scene, but will differ from the drawing shown here. Each bullet is
from a Civil War battlefield or campsite. These genuine pieces of history,
preserved in a handsome brown frame (16" x 21") with UV plexiglass, come
with a certificate of authenticity from The Caren Archive.
The Second Battle of Bull Run, or the Battle of
Second Manassas, was waged between August 28 and August 30, 1862, as part of
the American Civil War. It was the culmination of an offensive campaign
waged by Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia
against Union Major General John Pope’s Army of Virginia, and a battle of
much larger scale and numbers than the First Battle of Bull Run. The result
of the battle was an overwhelming Confederate victory, but the Union army
was left largely intact in comparison to Irvin McDowell’s army after the
First Battle of Bull Run/Manassas. This framed map of the Second Battle of
Bull Run contains an authentic excavated American Civil War 58 Caliber two
ring Bullet with certificate of authenticity.
